*NEW VIDEO* – Defense and Counter Punching Instructional Video

In this instructional video I cover all aspects of defense and counter punching. I break down various ways to defend the jab, the right hand, hooks, uppercuts, and body shots. I show you how to position your body and use footwork to set up counters off of these shots and create your own offense and set-ups. I give special consideration to the outside fighter and the inside fighter, along with a section dedicated to the Philly Shell defense. This video is demonstrated out of an orthodox position, however 90% of the information applies to southpaws as well with the only exception being how you handle the jab. I’m confident this video will solidify your defense and counter punching and give a complete set of tools to work with.

I really appreciate your way of teaching. Boxing looks so easy and smooth but in reality, it is very difficult. I’ve only begun boxing for less than a year and I’m still trying to get comfortable with my footwork. Your videos incorporate great technique, drills and tips for someone like me. Great job!

I have checked out some promo videos on YouTube, which I have incorporated into my martial arts & expanded by practicing & seeing new opportunities. U r a good/bad ass coach, because you discuss the techniques and strategies by getting straight to the point. I saw two videos on your online store. Do you have any other videos? Christmas is coming and I am writing my x-mas list. If you have additional videos, can you please e-mail me a complete list, so that I can give to my wife and etc.?

You r great at teaching and demonstrating the “Sweet Science.” Keep up the great work!!!!

Hey Michael, I don’t have a catalogue, so far only paypal. The only other way I can recommend is to send me a money order, once it gets here I will send you the download links for the videos. I wish there was a better way, but if you are interested in this I can send you my address.

I got into boxing about a 1/2 ago.Due to some “slipped disks”,I haven’t been training as much, but I want to dedicate myself more.I learned basic boxing footwork, but I have trouble with moving around, skipping, sidesteps, angles etc. Will your “Boxing Footwork Instructional Video” help with this???

    1. Author’s gravatar

Thanks for your comment, excellent that you got into boxing, hopefully your training is progressing well. I’m not sure if you are asking if the video will help a personal in general or if it will help someone who has physical limitations due to slipped discs. I can say that the video teaches comprehensive footwork including side stepping, angles and much more. The instruction will definitely improve your footwork. However, if you are not able to execute the techniques then the video can’t help. You would need to rehabilitate yourself to the level where you can perform the techniques. I don’t know your exact situation, but my recommendation is to see physio and medical treatment to alleviate any conditions.

I also love the way you teach. I have never fought iin the ring but love to give it a go. I’m 63 and i would like to get in shape and give the masters a try. do you have any idea on how to do this?

    1. Author’s gravatar

Yes, you will have to join a boxing gym that is registered with your local boxing association. Then you yourself will have to register with your local boxing association, you will need to get a basic medical from a doctor and be approved to fight. Then you need to train and put in all the work. You don’t have to do it in this order, you can first go to a boxing gym to learn and train, then after a few months you can tell them you would like to spar which is when you will need to register yourself, then after a few more months you can tell them you’d like to have an amateur fight. then you just focus all your effort on getting ready. Be at the best you can possible be, don’t rush it. You can make huge progress in 8 months to a year. I would say aim to fight in about 8 months or more provided that you can put in the work. Thanks for your comment.

Hey Lee, thanks for your comment. Nice to see somebody all the way in SA checking out my stuff.

I just purchased and watched the Defense video, and it was very good. I appreciated the emphasis on fundamentals, while at the same time showing and explaining more advanced concepts. This is not a “catch all” of techniques, but a solid explanation of boxing defense that you can build upon for years. I have all of Jason’s videos, and they are definitely worth the money. Each compliments the others nicely, they are produced well, and his instruction and execution are excellent. I can’t wait for more! Keep up the great work.

      thx for your feedback Eric!

    Hi Jason,
What do you think about making an instructional focused on southpaw stance?
It probably would be unique in the web…
If you made it I’d buy it immediately…

    Thank you!

    1. Author’s gravatar

Hey, I think it would be a great video, however I don’t know if I have enough unique knowledge for SP’s to make an entire instructional video, I think for SP’s all my stuff I will put out for free on youtube.

I like the way you teach. Will be saving to download. I also like the way how your teachings could be modified for a more improved Muay Thai or MMA. These videos are a certainly “must-have” tools.

    1. Author’s gravatar

Thanks bud, I always keep the mma or muay thai fighter in mind.

  14. Author’s gravatar

First, why isn’t this set up so that one can add all the video to a cart, istead of having to go back and forth from paypal?
More importantly, I wanted to take the time to say thank you for your videos on YT and here. You are a gifted teacher, and I know because I have shelves of instructional dvds and books on the sweet science, and 99% of them are useless. I’m teaching my five year old son to box, and your instruction is everything I’ve been searching for. Thanks again,John

    1. Author’s gravatar

Thanks John, I really appreciate your feedback and comments, and I’ve always said that it’s the ultimate compliment if a young aspiring boxer can benefit from my instruction. I have a 4 year old boy so I know how it is, I hope your little guy is really able to use my stuff and has tons of fun boxing.

You are also right on point about the add to cart option to order multiple videos, I will be making that upgrade within the next few months.

  15. Author’s gravatar

Wow! What great instruction. This is the real thing. I bought the head movement and counter punching yesterday, and I just bought the footwork, downloading it as I write this. I’m not a kid, I’m 52 in August, but I bought these dvds to coach my five year old son–who has already mastered the basics of boxing, thai boxing, balintawak, and submission grappling–but Jason’s instruction is going to bring my son’s boxing instruction to a whole new level; and it’s going to help his mma, for just watching it once has already made me rethink shots, or in other words, slipping for takedowns. I started off in the fighting arts boxing at the Boy’s Club and wrestling in school. Then I got into traditional martial arts until discovering kick boxing. I got good enough where I was offered a pro contract, which I didn’t accept. And after that I got back into grappling with submission wresting. For over forty years I’ve been practicing one fighting art or another, even studying and teaching for several years in Asia. I have a library of dvds and books on the fighting arts. I have shelves of books and dvds on boxing. I have all of Title’s dvds and the Freddy Roach set as well, not to mention many more on boxing, and they were all pretty much a disappointment. I recently downloaded Johnny Nguens “Boxing in 10 Lessons,” and although I think Johnny’s teaching is sincere, my kid already knew everything and more. I mean we watched it once, and he said over and over, “I already know that, Papa.” What I’m getting at is–these vids of Jason are not only the best instruction BY FAR on boxing that I’ve ever seen, they are one of the two best vids I’ve ever seen in all of martial arts–the other being the great Mario Sperry’s Vale Tudo series. And let me tell you, if you are impressed by Jason hand and foot speed, you ought to see how quick he emails you back. Don’t be nervous about ordering from this guy at all. I had a little trouble downloading and he was right there right away 100%. He’s going to personally be there to make sure you get what you paid for and more. For example, he’s sending me a link to videos that are not available to the gen public on Youtube. What a great value! And I’ll buy another vid from Jason as soon as it comes out. We live in the North Carolina mountains, and my only regret is that Jason lives so far away that my son cannot be coached by him personally. But I’m so grateful that we have the next best thing. BoxingFootwork just completed downloading See ya… Thank you, Jason. Great job!

Thanks so much for your comment John, it really means a lot with your background and experience. Helps me know that I’m on the right path and to keep moving ahead with what I”m doing. I hope your boy is learning having lots of fun with the stuff in the vids!

  16. Author’s gravatar

Oh yeah, one more thing, the production quality of these vids is surprising well done. I would say professional.
